Exam Study Guide: The Anglo-Saxons and Co.

Review for Quiz - Thanes and Peace-weavers, here is a study guide for your reviewing pleasure (test is on block days - Wed and Thurs of this week).
  • Beowulf - plot, characters, thematic developments (see study guide) 
  • The Anglo-Saxon historical overview (you should have already opened the document in Notability, but if you don't have it, go to Google Classroom and get it there; it's entitled "Brit Lit - Historical Eras").
    • Pay specific attention to the following things:

        • Tribal system of government (decentralized)
        • Monasteries as centers of learning

        • Scop - an Anglo-Saxon poet, a "shaper"

      • imagery - language that appeals to the senses
